The Horror Edition – Day 7

Hands down, without a doubt, my most favourite horror prop is The Lament Configuration puzzle box from the worlds of Hellraiser.

Lemarchand’s Box is a puzzle box created by the fictional Philip LeMarchand — an 18th Century French architect, artisan and designer of some infamy. He first created his designs as bizarre, intricately designed music boxes and he was well known as a maker of mechanical singing birds. But as a devotee of the occult, he became obsessed with the supernatural which resulted in the creation of the first puzzle box, the Lament Configuration or the Box of Sorrows.

When the puzzle is solved, a bell tolls to announce the arrival of the Cenobites who are extra dimensional beings that serve Leviathan, the Lord and Master of Hell.

The Puzzle Box appears throughout the Hellraiser mythos, both in the books written by Clive Barker as in the comics and films.

If you want to geek out and learn a little more, follow the white rabbit!!
